Nasi Lemak: Malaysia’s Best

My first meal in Kuala Lumpur: Nasi Lemak. My host explains that this is widely eaten in Malaysia (considered the national dish) but originated from Indonesia. That, in fact, a lot of the Malaysian dishes are inspired from Indonesian cuisine.

Nasi Lemak translates to Coconut Milk Rice, served with anchovies, peanuts, boiled egg, fresh cucumber slices, sambal (some reaaaaally good hot sauce), and some choices of meat like spicy fried chicken or chicken rendang.

Village Park Restaurant also has a variety of green vegetables and other side dishes you can order. This meal is best served with Kopi Peng,

Note: You’ll see the word NASI all over the place so just a heads up, it means rice.
