Win Heng Seng’s pork noodles is a treasure of Kuala Lumpur and stumbling into this place made my day. My local friend and I were exploring town, slowly finding our way to ICC Pudu, where more local treats awaited us. The market used to be where Tun Razak Exchange is currently developing the land for finance and business.
Locals say the Old Imbi Market, also known as Pasar Lama Bukit Bintang, was quite the breakfast place with a ton of options and the food was authentic. It was there for about 30 years. It’s such a shame that a piece of culture was completely destroyed. But I guess it’s nice that the market had room to transfer to, though the ambiance and experience is definitely not the same anymore, I’m sure. You can read more about what happened on www.says.com.
The adventure of finding the new Imbi Market brought us to Win Heng Seng, a restaurant on Jalan Imbi, housing some fantastic pork noodles. My friend stalled a good minute and looked really frustrated because he had wanted me to try it, too, but we had already planned for the Imbi Market. But I said, why not? We’re here, let’s eat! And so we did.
The pork noodles was just mouthwateringly good. You can choose your type of noodles and they top it with minced pork meat, pork meat balls, and pork sausages. Quite the pork overload so watch out for your blood pressure! It also comes with a side of soup with something like a pork paste? I didn’t like it. At all. The texture was just too weird for me.
The flavors of the pork noodles are bold and it wasn’t as fatty as I was imagining it to be. I was almost scared to eat it as I am not huge on pork. I guess it depends on my mood. And this was absolutely crazy good. We ordered other dishes as well and my friend and I would switch every now and then to share the food but I always found myself wanting more of the pork noodles!
P.S. We never made it to the New Imbi Market! I had no more room in my stomach after all that food!
